Sustainable lighting MolenbossenVenlo, The Netherlands

In recent years, the Antares Housing Corporation completely renovated the four Molenbossen flats in Venlo. The end result is stunning and, to finalise this beautiful project, Antares looked for a perfect finishing touch. The lighting contributes to the recognisability and identity of the four flats. During the renovation, the residential buildings, each with its own name, were given an accent colour. This accent colour is also evident in the illumination of the end walls. The lighting is designed in such a way that the façades can be lit in any colour. In addition, this provides a perfect way of responding to special occasions. This is a beautiful enhancement of the four end walls!

Lagotronics Projects was hired to translate Antares’ idea into a technical solution. A modular structure was mounted against each end wall, and six to eight one-metre LED bars are attached to these structures. A control box was mounted to the roof of each façade, which contains the power, light controller, heater, and thermostat. The energy-efficient LED lighting is connected to a timer and only switches on in the evenings. As all buildings are equipped with solar panels, the energy required for the lighting is largely generated sustainably.
